We’ve all been there. Trying to get over an ex that seems to linger around. Keeping our minds busy, trying not to think about it. Tove Lo brings to light these emotions and realities in this track, “Habits” (Stay High). This song was actually released in the US in April 2014, and just now getting the buzz and attention it deserves.

Tove Nilsson, better known as Tove Lo, is a Swedish recording artist, and lets her heart out in this track. Apparently this song depicts true experiences of Tove Lo. It was recorded right after a breakup she went through. According to Tove Lo, she went through almost everything depicted in the song and video, including trying to stay high off of substances to keep her mind off of her ex. During an interview she stated. “I can’t lie…What I’m singing about is my life. It’s the truth. I’ve had moments where that [drug-taking] has been a bigger part than it should be. It’s hard to admit to, and I could filter it or find another metaphor for it – but it doesn’t feel right to me.” Regarding her lyric, “I eat my dinner in my bathtub”, she mentions to Billboard that she usually falls asleep in the bathtub when she’s home drunk, but wakes up when the water reaches her face. She says, “So far, I haven’t drowned.”
