Video: Disclosure – Latch

This song has been getting a lot of attention here in the U.S. lately! “Latch” by Disclosure was actually released as a single in the UK back in 2012, just recently has it been getting picked up by media channels here in the United States. This song was released as a single for the duo’s debut album, Settle .

The video was also uploaded back in 2012 and it depicts different couples embracing each other, which is perfectly fitting with the lyrics:

You lift my heart up when the rest of me is down (never)
You, you enchant me even when you’re not around (never)
If there are boundaries, I will try to knock them down (never)
I’m latching on, babe, now I know what I have found (never)

Now I got you in my space
I won’t let go of you (never)
Got you shackled in my embrace
I’m latching on to you (never)

In the video we see different couple catch each others’ eyes, kiss, and latch (like how I fit that in…) on to each others’ love. We see hints and evidence of GLBT and interracial relationships; reading the YouTube comments, this seems to be the norm and not a big deal in the UK, why don’t we see this in our media? Check out the video for yourself!

Video: DJ Snake – Turn Down For What Music Video

Needless to say, this track has gotten some MAJOR attention, and has become the anthem for parties, and party goers! DJ Snake announced via Facebook the premiere of the music video to “Turn Down For What,” and I immediately jumped on it!

So, the video … I really have no idea what the heck I just saw!! Haha. I had a feeling it was going to be a crazy video just because of the context of the song, but I was really thrown for a loop with this one! Of course we see party scenes, and at the beginning we see an Asian dude who looks like he’s about to morph. He first starts by breaking through the ground (we later learn hes pretty indestructible), then starts crumping, humping, then twerking of all things!

He gets hit a few times from a woman who feels he has intruded on her but deflects the blows with his bionic man parts – watch and you’ll know what I mean. Then they both partake in the crumping and twerking, and what have you, all the while breaking through the ground to different levels of the building (I suppose you can say this video is ground breaking, ha). Oh, and we see a lot of parts of the human body raving to the music as well … again, not sure why, but its there. At the end, we see everyone turning down, and sleeping, except for one special part – then … cut to black.

So, there you have it, the “Turn Down For Whatmusic video. Raving, face-melting, crumping, humping, twerking, “bouncing,” all in one. Has it brought humankind a step forward in the right direction, mehhhhh, but it was entertaining. Check it out below!

Video: Beyonce – Partition

WOW. I remember rushing home from school so I could catch the music video section on MTV, hoping that I would catch Beyonce‘s videos, “Crazy In Love” was the hot video at the time. I could watch that video over and over and over and over and…… get the point, haha!

That was then, and now ….. “Partition” was released. Better yet, the video to “Partition” was released!! My goodness!!!!!

Ok, ok, back to talking about the video and song. This is definitely a different side to Beyonce, not that she hasn’t been “bold” before, but check out these lyrics:

Driver roll up the partition please
I don’t need you seeing Yoncé on her knees
Took 45 minutes to get all dressed up
We ain’t even gonna make it to this club
Now my mascara running, red lipstick smudged
Oh he so horny, yeah he want to f**k
He popped all my buttons, and he ripped my blouse
He Monica Lewinsky-ed all on my gown

Ummm yea……Monica Lewinsky, subtle hint, I think not!

Apparently the French voice at the end is saying:

Do you like sex? Sex. I mean, the physical activity. Coitus. Do you like it? You’re not interested in sex? Men think that feminists hate sex, but it’s a very stimulating and natural activity that women love

The video has gotten a lot of criticism, not only for the lyrics, but also for the sexual nature of the video. Some say that the “role model” aspect of Beyonce has been tainted. But reports say that she just wanted to perform something “sexy” for her husband, Jay Z. And this stemmed from a show they went to together after their engagement. The show featured the Crazy Horse dancers, which are seen in the video.

Oh B….when are you going to admit this song is about me hmmm??? Hahaha I kid I kid, but a man can dream right?! (please don’t let Jay read this!)

Alright, enough talking, check out the video!!

Video: Katy Perry – Dark Horse

I’ve been looking forward to the release of this video! I’m not a die hard fan of Katy, but she puts out some good music from time to time, despite the poppy-ness of it. I can dig this track though; “Dark Horse.” Here is the music video to it. I feel it has a very “candyland” feel to it, and a low rider carriage?!? LOL Either way, the music video has Katy Perry written all over it! Check it out!
