The Best Notorious BIG Tributes

The day was March 9th, 1997 and the music world woke up to a shock. Notorious BIG (Biggie Smalls) was ambushed in the streets of LA. There’s no doubt that music, and the world itself lost so much that day.

In recent times, I’ve been experimenting with new music, different genres, and different styles. Lately, I’ve really been into deep or as some like to call it, future house. What I like to do is open up the club night with lounge-y music, and a lot of remixes and bootlegs of good-vibe music. While digging, I’ve found some gems that I like to throw in sporadically throughout the night. It’s the kind of music that I’d listen to at home, which many DJs can attest that the music you play in the club isn’t always reflective of the music you listen to in your car, or at home when you’re trying to have down-time.
I remember I had just turned 21 or 22 (something like that), and we walked into one of the hottest clubs in Colorado Springs. We decided to go out that night to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday. We ventured in to this club where Brandon Lee was spinning. I had heard a lot about him, and we may have communicated here and there online, but never had I met him in person, until this night.
Of course, the club was packed and everyone was sweaty … the one to blame, Brandon Lee. I finally went up and introduced myself, conversed a little bit, as much as you can in the middle of a DJ set, then sat back down with my group. A little bit later he shouted us out and gave a birthday shout out to Valerie.
Fast forward a few years, I realized I made an awesome connection. We keep in touch, and he’s always down to provide some great advice. I don’t think I’ve ever met such a down to earth guy who doesn’t mind lending out a hand. Though we are on complete opposite sides of the state, I know he’s one of the dudes I can count on.
When he’s not shutting down clubs, rocking your radio, and taking over the scene in Colorado Springs, which comes easy to him (after all he is the mastermind behind All Star DJs), he’s spending time with his family, and making his wife his #WCW every Wednesday! Hat’s off to this guy!

This dude is no stranger to the Reno Nightlife! I’ve had the pleasure of working with him and covering some of his gigs and I gotta tell you, this guy is one dope DJ and an all around great guy!
Not only is he busy holding down a residency at Aura Ultra Lounge in Reno, he’s traveling all over taking his music on the road. He often heads out to Vegas to rock out at the clubs out there, and it seems like every time he turns around he’s catching a plane to go somewhere else! Definitely a DJ with hustle! He recently put out an EDM mix and that’s what we’ve featured today.
