Usher – “Lemme See”

Monday, June 25, 2012UncategorizedComments

I’m kinda digging this jam. This is Usher’s “Lemme See” featuring Rick Ross. The album Looking For Myself was released earlier this month; you may have heard the other singles “Climax” and “Scream” off of this album. Overall, the album received good reviews and sold 128,000 copies in the first week, pretty good numbers but significantly lower than some of his other albums’ fist week sales. What do y’all think? Y’all feeling it?

Saturday, June 23, 2012UncategorizedComments

Alright, so this isn’t ‘new’ news, but wanted to share it with y’all. Radiobum DJ, DJ Vajra took the title as DMC World Champion for 2011. Its been said that this guy is a martian and I wouldn’t be surprised! His sets are amazing and his turntablism is out of this world. Currently he is on tour with Yelawolf as his official DJ. He’s pretty much touring all over the world, but when he’s in your town make sure you make it a point to go see him. You can also check out his site here. Or follow him here.

Check out his DMC World Championship performance below:

Below you can find Vajra’s segment of Super 7 a mix that is featuring DJs Jayceeoh, Jazzy Jeff, Revolution, Z-Trip, Gaslamp Killer, Mike Boogie, and of course, Vajra.

AKM – Up and Coming Artist

Friday, June 22, 2012UncategorizedComments

Andrew, also known as AKM has definitely came a long way! Me and him go back, like high school days back. We met when we both had no idea what this music thing was. I barely had a dozen records and two turntables and he had a drum machine and mixer/recorder. We’ve both come a long way, and I can say that I have enjoyed seeing him grow from where he started. He has definitely changed his style and now I can say that I see ‘Andrew’ through AKM’s music instead of just some other rapper. He’s definitely someone to keep an eye on and someone to follow. Check out his Facebook here. And his Reverb Nation page here.

Learn more from his bio below:

AKM (Born Andrew Kent Meyers on 9-16-1990) Is a musician from Colorado. He got into music spending hours making mix-tapes of his Dads classic rock records. He asked his parents for a drum set but they couldn’t afford it and didn’t want to put up with the noise. His sister had an electric keyboard so he learned that instead. He started making his beats but had no one to produce to start writing his own songs. In 2009 we was the drummer in Salt but quit to focus on his own career. AKM works with Sean Divine and makes his own beats using Native Instruments, Pro Tools and a midi controller. In 2012 he started his first Major project “Rock City” Including Live recordings by Ethan Roth on Guitar and himself on Drums. AKM Records at Denver’s premier studio, Side 3.

Mayer Hawthorne

Andrew Mayer Cohen is based out of Los Angeles. He signed with Stones Throw Records after the label head heard him. Mayer hadn’t had any previous vocal training and was meant to only be a side project but soon was placed as a priority. His debut single “Just ain’t gonna work out” was released in November 2008.

I became a fan a few years ago and I dig his style not only because it has a smooth groove, but it also reminds me of the oldies. Brings some of the old flavor to the contemporary vibe. Learn a little more about him in the video below:

One of my favorites:
